Arty Crafty Fun for Everyone!

Hello everyone!

Here’s hoping the lovely warm weather we’ve experienced in the last week hasn’t tempted you away from your crafting too much! We have a lot going on at our next sesCathedral Window Cushionsion; as usual Damien will be teaching his art classes and we will be continuing to demonstrate crafting techniques. This week the first hour will see Miranda showing us how to create a faux ‘Cathedral Window’ quilt panel, which can subsequently form part of a larger piece of work, such as a cushion cover. This will be a quick and simple method which is very satisfactory as you can achieve quite stunning and complicated looking work very easily. If you would like to join Miranda and create your own alongside her demonstration, then you will need to bring some things with you:

Pin Cushion

4 x 3.5" squares of the same material – plain

· 1 x 6.5" square – patterned material

· 1 x 6.5" square of a contrasting plain material

· Scissors, sewing needle, pins,

· thread matching the colour of the large plain square

Don’t be put off by the list of things to bring along, it’s really not much at all; just make sure that the materials are of a similar thickness and if you have a sewing machine, bring that with you.

For those not partial to sewing, we will also be demonstrating other simple crafts in the second hour and discussing with everyone our plans for our special event planned for the 1st October.

Sue Waite has very kindly offered to show us how to make felt brooches and we are very keen to take her up on her offer, but having already advertised the Cathedral Window quilting panel, we thought it inappropriate to change the schedule activity once again, and more importantly, believe that Sue deserves a whole evening in which to demonstrate her fantastic skills.

If, of course, you do not wish to try out any of the techniques on offer, that’s fine, you don’t have to! Simply bring yourself along for a cuppa and a chat and maybe that bit of work that’s been lurking in the cupboard you haven’t quite got around to finishing off yet!

The session starts at 7.30pm and we have a lot to get through so we look forward to seeing you and hope you have a fun and enjoyable evening with us.
